Death toll from late monsoon disaster rises to 239
Kathmandu: The recent late monsoon-induced disaster has resulted in a tragic loss of 239 lives, with 18 individuals still unaccounted for following the floods and landslides that struck the country last week.
Rishiram Tiwari, spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, reported that 178 people have been injured in the disaster-related incidents.
In response to the crisis, authorities have successfully rescued 17,120 individuals from the affected areas. Efforts are ongoing to mobilize relief support for survivors and to repair damaged highways and roads.
