Kathmandu: As the world prepares for a celestial spectacle, a solar eclipse is set to engulf parts of North America in darkness on April 8. However, observers in Nepal will miss out on this event, as confirmed by B.P. Koirala Memorial Planetarium, Observatory, and Science Museum Development Board in Kathmandu.

According to reports from NASA, the total solar eclipse will traverse across North America, encompassing Mexico, the United States, and Canada, before commencing its journey over the South Pacific Ocean. Despite its grandeur, the eclipse won’t be visible from Nepal, ensuring that residents of the country won’t be treated to the awe-inspiring phenomenon.

This marks the second time this year that Nepal has been excluded from witnessing solar eclipses, with similar events occurring on April 20, 2023, and October 14. The absence of visibility can be attributed to the intricate alignment of the sun, moon, and earth, where the moon positions itself between the sun and earth, resulting in temporary darkness in specific regions.
