Finance minister asks help from World Bank to prevent pandemic

Kathmandu: Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has said that Nepal needs more assistance from the World Bank to control the covid-19 epidemic.

In a meeting with the World Bank delegation at the Ministry on Monday, he thanked the bank for its support to Nepal and asked for more support.

Minister Sharma said that the current government has provided the vaccine against COVID-19 to all the citizens and is leading the economic recovery.

Stating that the poverty alleviation program in Nepal is also a priority of the government, he expressed confidence that the World Bank would help reduce poverty through quality education, accessible health care and road connectivity.

During the meeting, the Executive Director of the Bank, Muhammad Hassan, expressed his commitment to facilitate the Board to assist Nepal. He requested Nepal to actively participate in the upcoming joint annual conference of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
