SC denies bail to Durga Prasai in electricity fraud case
Kathmandu: Supreme Court has rejected the petition for bail filed by Durga Prasai, a medical practitioner arrested on charges of electricity fraud. Prasai’s son, Nirajan Prasai, had filed a habeas corpus petition, claiming that his father was being unlawfully detained.
The petition was dismissed by a bench comprising Justices Nityanand Pandey and Mahesh Sharma Paudel on Wednesday. The court also issued a directive order while rejecting the petition.
Nirajan Prasai had filed the habeas corpus petition against the Ministry of Home Affairs and other authorities, including the Nepal Police, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and the Kathmandu District Court, alleging that his father’s detention was unlawful.
