NTA directs to block cryptocurrency and network marketing sites

Kathmandu: Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) has directed to ‘block’ websites, apps and online networks linked to illegal activities and financial crimes including cryptocurrency, bitcoin, hyper networking, online gambling.

On Monday, issuing an instruction to internet service providers, the authority said that transactions using digital technology, including virtual currency and network marketing, which are not legally recognized as monetary instruments in Nepal, are increasing in recent days.

The Nepal Telecommunication Authority has issued instructions to all internet (including e-mail) service providers to ensure that websites, apps and online networks related to illegal activities and economic crimes cannot be accessed from Nepal to use, operate and manage virtual media within Nepal.
